It might be short but there's not much that's sweet about a new play full of battle, murder and deception that opens tonight.
The
cast of Samarès Players is doing battle throughout the week - a royal
battle of good versus evil as they perform Shakespeare's famous Macbeth
in the grounds of Samarès Manor.A number of well-known local actors have been busy rehearsing for the last few months including Guy Browning and Gabrielle Robbé who are playing the lead roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in this year's production directed by Jacqui Audrain.
She said: “This is Shakespeare’s venture into the supernatural, a bloody tragedy and royal battle where good clashes with evil. It is a masterpiece of writing and entertaining on all levels with witches, sword fights, deception and even base comedy in parts.”
Performances start every night at 8pm and you can get tickets from the Jersey Arts Centre box office or on the gate. The stars of the show suggest you take a picnic to enjoy in the Manor grounds before their performance, or you can get supper from the Herb Garden Café.
The last performance is on Saturday.
