Getting ready for 2013

We would like to thank all our customers for their continued support of the cafe and wish you all a warm winter and happy holidays. 

We will be re-opening on the 30th March 2013 with some new ideas to compliment our existing menu. New for 2013 will be our breakfast menu served until midday everyday. 

We look forward to seeing you next spring.

We are looking forward to the Samares Manor Autumn Fair on Monday 27th August. Its a celebration of Harvest, corn threshing and apple crushing, with country music and family entertainment all day.

Due to it's popularity last year The Herb Garden Cafe will again be providing a huge buffet from 12pm with home made salads, roast & cured meats, poached & smoked salmons, seafood cocktails, crab claws and other delicacies, various quiches and and pastries. There is also a hot buffet with pizzas, chicken, sardines, crab cakes, chips, corn cobs and lots of other mouth watering dishes to choose from.

Outside on the terrace will will have a BBQ from 1pm with marinated steak baguettes and hot dogs with local pork sausages from classic herd.

And to wash it all down we are selling the very popular Local cider from La Robeline. The Jersey coffee car will be on site providing coffee's and cup cakes and Stuarts Ices will be selling lots of ice creams.

On our specials board; Baked potatoes with various fillings,   Home made Jersey beefburger with smokey bacon and cheese topping with hand cut chips.    Warm pan fried new potato salad with provencal olives, artichoke and kitchen garden green beans.   Pan fried Halloumi cheese salad with olive tapenade.   Baby spinach salad with blue cheese, strawberries & toasted almonds.   Spanish Paella (large or small).   Children's chicken breast nuggets & hand cut chips.

Pre Show Supper Specialities

Our specials this evening are; Pan fried rib-eye steak with pepper sauce and hand cut chips. Sweet n' sour chicken with rice, Caesar salad with a choice of toppings (smoked salmon, chicken, smokey bacon or prawns). Home made Jersey beefburger with bacon & cheese served with chips, salad & coleslaw. french crevettes in garlic butter with salad and baguette. Roast peppers, celeriac and sweet potato soup. Tomato, celery & fennel quiche.
Table reservations are recommended for the pre show suppers.

The special dishes for this bank holiday Tuesday are;

Local fillets of black bream with crushed almond Jersey royals and mange tout picked from the chefs garden.    A chicken & smoky bacon club sandwich with freshly baked Foccacia roll.    Pan fried scallops and pancetta bacon served on a salad of Jersey royals, green beans and black olives tossed with lemon thyme dressing.   French onion soup with thyme & Parmesan crouton.   Mushroom & Kale Quiche.

One of the most exciting bits of news we want to tell you about is our new chef.

Simon Heuze joined our team this spring and has already brought along some new ideas and dishes. Simon has trained extensively in restaurants on the Canary Islands and enjoys producing fresh al fresco style food. We are very pleased he has joined us and hope you will enjoy trying out some of his new dishes.

One new dish which has already proved a big hit is called a Chimichanga, it is a large flour tortilla filled with chicken, peppers, onions,tomatoes, black olives and a little chilli. It is then pan fried and finished in the oven with melted mozzarella cheese. We serve the Chimichanga with a salad garnish and a red & green mojo sauce.
 

Other specials include; Lamb biryani with vegetable curry. A marinated seafood tagliatelle tossed with olive oil and finished with wilted sorrel from the garden. A beef, chicken or prawn noodle stir-fry with pak choi and oriental dressing. Shellfish & seafood risotto with Parmesan flakes and chive flowers. Carrot & coriander soup or A Lovage, tomato & rocket quiche.

We have finally got our cafe blog back on line, and just in time to tell you about this Sunday's roast lunch. 

From 1pm we will be serving a traditional roast dinner; loin of pork with all the trimmings including homemade sage & onion stuffing and our own crab apple jelly.

Picnic Hampers

We have been working on a new and exciting idea for this summer. The plan is to hire out ready prepared picnic Hampers for couples, families and groups to enjoy anywhere within the grounds of Samares Manor.

There will be three types to choose from; Family Picnic, Traditional Jersey Picnic or a Deluxe Picnic. Each picnic hamper includes disposable plates, cups & cutlery and also a blanket to sit on. The picnics are freshly prepared in the morning and will be available from 12noon on the day you place the order. For more details please click HERE

We are looking forward to opening up for 2012 soon. The cafe will open fully on the 7th April when the gardens re-open but we also plan to be open for tea & coffee during March when the Shop and Nursery open, so if your passing pop in and say hello.
