A Feast of Shakespeare

Samarès Players present a unique evening of Shakespearean
entertainment for their summer production. To celebrate William
Shakespeare’s 450th birthday they have broken with their traditional
summer play and are presenting an evening of music, song, sonnets and
speeches with a splendid banquet under cover in the Samarès Herb Garden
Café.
Chef and proprietor of the Café, Ian Florence, is cooking venison and
fresh summer vegetables for main course. The audience on arrival will
be offered canapés and a glass of wine or soft drink. During this time
Cally Noel and her Elizabethan music group, Bellisima, will be
entertaining you before you are seated for the main event. Karen Syvret
and friends will be singing some of Shakespeare’s songs and a group of
the regular Samarès Players will be reciting speeches and sonnets for
your delight. Dessert will be a lemon verbena mousse and at the end of
the evening you will be sent on your way with mulled cider or a soft
alternative. Jugs of excellent house wine and soft drinks will be
available for purchase on the night.
Please note that only alcohol served or bought on the premises will be allowed to be consumed.
Members of the Samarès Players will entertain the revelers with
speeches, sonnets and poetry. Director Jane Wakeham has chosen ‘Love’ as
the theme for the evening; there will also be a quiz to challenge your
knowledge of the Bard.
Tickets, £45 per person, must be booked and bought in advance from
the Jersey Arts Centre Box Office on 700444. Tickets will not be
available to purchase on the evenings of performance.
There will be no picnicking allowed on these nights in the grounds.
Seating is limited to 70 people per evening.
Warm clothes are essential as the nights do become chilly.
